Quick Reference

At a glance

Pre-mix bag count per cubic yard of concrete

40 lb0.30 ft³90
60 lb0.45 ft³60
80 lb0.60 ft³45
90 lb0.68 ft³40

How to calculate it yourself

Bags = ceil(cubic_yards × 27 ÷ bag_yield_ft³). Always add 5–10% for spillage and uneven sub-grade.

Common scenarios

Small slab (4×4×4")

0.05 yd³ × 27 = 1.35 ft³ → 3 bags of 60 lb or 3 bags of 80 lb.

Patio (10×10×4")

1.23 yd³ × 27 = 33.3 ft³ → 75 bags of 60 lb. Use ready-mix delivery instead.

Single fence post (8" × 36")

About 1.05 ft³ → 3 bags of 60 lb or 2 bags of 80 lb.
