Disclaimer
All calculations on BuildMaterialCalc are estimates only. Always consult a licensed professional for structural, code, or safety-critical applications.
What our calculators do
Our calculators apply standard industry formulas (e.g., volume divided by 27 to convert cubic feet to cubic yards, 350 ft²/gallon for paint coverage) to the dimensions you enter. They return the number of bags, gallons, sheets, tiles, or squares those dimensions imply.
What they don\'t do
- Account for sub-grade or surface conditions. Soft soil, frost heave, uneven framing, or porous walls all change real-world quantities.
- Replace local building codes. Code minimums for slab thickness, drywall fire ratings, beam sizing, etc. vary by jurisdiction.
- Replace manufacturer spec sheets. Bag yields, paint coverage, and tile box counts vary by product. Always confirm against the spec sheet on the bag, can, or carton.
- Engineer your project. Loads, spans, footings, and structural members must be sized by a licensed engineer or architect for any construction subject to permit.
Recommendation
Use our calculators as a quick reference and a starting point for planning, ordering, and budgeting. Before purchasing material, signing a contract, or beginning any structural or safety-critical work, confirm the numbers with a licensed contractor, engineer, or architect familiar with your project and local code.
